At last nights meeting we held elections for the leadership positions.

 

Boatswain- Addison

Boatswain Mate- Grayson

Purser- Derek

Store Keeper- Teleri

Yeoman- Jonathan

 

Congratulations to the first quarterdeck of Ship 1808.

 

After elections we discussed the following:

  • Types, uses, advantages, and disadvantages for each type of life jackets
  • Ordinary knots
  • Discussed Recruiting ideas
  • Discussed some upcoming events

 

Recruiting Ideas:

  • Hold Public Recruiting Events
  • Post flyers in stores and schools
  • Go to local scouting units

 

Upcoming Events (All Ship Meetings are at BRYC and from 7-8:30 unless told otherwise):

  • 11/14/16- Ship Meeting (Roundtable) 2810 Emmorton Rd. Abingdon MD, 21009
  • 11/16/16- Dundalk Sail and Power Squadron Meeting (7:30-9:00) The Bowman Restaurant/ 9306 Harford Rd. Parkville, MD 21234
  • 11/19/16- Service Project at Bush River Yacht Club (9am-12pm)
  • 11/19/16- Ship 361 Bridge of Honor (6pm-9pm) (for anyone who wants to come to see how one is conducted) 12470 Old Fredrick Rd. Marriottsville, MD 21104
  • 12/05/16- Quarterdeck meeting with newly elected officers.

 

I will e-mail out any event/ event reminders as they get closer/ find out about new events. The first newsletter will be the December newsletter and they will be sent out after each month's quarterdeck meeting. Also, I hope to have the website completely set-up in the next few weeks. I will let you know when it is all set-up.

 

I am going to try to have a flyer ready in the next week so we can distribute flyers in schools and local stores.
